McDonald’s Spinoff, CosMc’s, Doubles Regular Restaurant Visits in First Month: Report

The data shows that CosMc’s has a higher number of visitors per sq. In December 2023, a McDonald’s classic will have a higher number of visits per sq.

This is according to Placer.ai, a business insight platform. Placer.ai is a business intelligence platform.

Placer.ai stated in a report on Jan. 6, that “Placer’s data suggests that CosMc’s saw more than twice as many visits during December 2023 than a typical McDonald’s franchise, despite being only open since Dec. 7 and had more than three times the number of visits per square foot (given CosMc’s relatively small footprint of approximately 2,500 square feet).

If CosMc had more capacity, the number of visitors would likely have been higher.

During the initial launch of the drive-thru-only restaurant, reports indicated that customers experienced wait times of up to six hours when ordering food and beverages.

Bolingbrook was the site of CosMc’s pilot restaurant. Traffic at the restaurant during its opening week became so congested that police were called to help direct it.

CosMc’s is a smaller restaurant than McDonald’s. The average McDonald’s is between 4,000 and 4,500 square feet. This is because CosMc’s serves drinks and snacks, rather than meals.

The menu includes four “Signature GalacticBoosts,” which are caffeinated drinks flavored with fruit. There is also a variety of coffee drinks, and iced teas. Other breakfast items include a spicy queso burger, McPops-filled donuts, hash brown bites in savory flavors, and pretzel bits.

McDonald’s will open 10 more pilot locations in Texas before 2024.

Placer.ai said that when they arrived at the mall, “roughly” eighty cars were parked and waiting for parking. This meant that there was a need for a parking area.

Customers use dynamic menu boards to order and pay, while using cashless devices. According to the report, customers wait for their orders at the menu board and are then assigned a pick-up window once they are complete.

CosMc’s does not have an online ordering system, which may contribute to the long waits at its four drive-thru lanes.
