A House Democrat faces criminal charges for misusing government funds to pay for “security services”. Cori Bush was the subject of much speculation, but it has now been confirmed.
Punchbowl News broke the story and reported that the DOJ had subpoenaed House Sergeant At Arms who kept records on how the money was spent.

Bush’s problems with payments for “security” services are well-known. Allegations that she paid $60,000 to her husband in early 2023 have been made. This dynamic was a cause for concern, as the man in question did not have a Missouri security license.
This is a problem because, in Missouri, a license to provide security services is required. You would expect Merritts to have offered his “services,” in Bush’s District (especially considering their relationship). The report also notes that Bush’s campaign paid hundreds of thousands in payments to other security firms. This seems odd, doesn’t it?
Bush also paid around $500,000 during the same time frame for “security services”, a sum that was absurdly excessive and unnecessary. Where did all the money go? Was any of the money going back to Bush or his family? What is the connection between that scandal and these recent revelations of her misusing public funds under a similar guise? This would seem to be all connected.
It’s not over yet. Things could get messy during an election year. Bush isn’t the kind of person to just go away quietly, even if the DOJ slams the door on her. If she is indicted she should be expelled immediately from the House. This is the standard set recently with George Santos, and Democrats must adhere to it.
Bush is among the worst in Washington. She is a racist outright and is blatantly corrupt. It would be great if she was booted.
