Tracie Porter, Cook County (IL), Judge has ordered that the name of former President Donald Trump be removed from the state’s primary on March 19th. She has delayed the order until March 1 in anticipation of an expected appeal.
Porter’s decision comes after the Illinois State Board of Elections decided on January 30, that it did not have the authority to determine if it could remove Trump from ballots on the basis that Trump’s January 6, 2021 actions constituted a violation of the 14th Amendment.
Porter said that her decision was rendered moot if the United States Supreme Court ruled on Trump’s removal of the Colorado primary ballot and determined the removal to be “inconsistent with” her own.
Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump, has said that the decision will be appealed quickly.
“Today an activist Democrat Judge in Illinois overruled the state board of elections and contradicted previous decisions from dozens of other state and federal authorities.” “We will appeal this unconstitutional decision.” “In the meantime, Donald Trump is still on the Illinois ballot and leading the polls. He will make America Great Again!”
The Supreme Court’s disdain for the Colorado effort to remove Trump from the state’s ballot and Judge Porter’s actions and words regarding her ruling make it clear that the ruling is nothing more than blue meat and fanfare with no chance of success.
