How the Paris Olympics Lured Us Into a Marketing Trap?

“Why on earth would anyone push so much to offend as many Christians as possible? It’s insane that this kind of ‘show’ even passed the proposal stage. #BoycottOlympics.”

“Why?” Indeed. Outrage over the Paris Olympics opening ceremony has increased their visibility and made them a top story for a few days.

My friend asked, “Wasn’t it a risky move? Offending 1.3 billion people isn’t the best strategy to win friends, influence others, or gain viewers. Right? ”

There was no risk involved in the marketing. This was a near-certain thing.

If Christians feel offended, what will they do? They did not offend Muslims. They didn’t offend Muslims. If they did, they would be soon competing in the Headless Horseman Contest.

Christians are the first ones to be accused of being the targets of controversy. All of us fell into the trap.

To make it work, the performers had to pretend that they were shocked at anyone who could misunderstand their small drag performance.

Thomas Jolly said at a press conference on Saturday that his selections were not meant to be “subversive or mocking.”

Bwahahahahaha.

Only a liar like Monsieur Jolly can tell you the show’s purpose was “to mock and shock”, and not to subvert the show.

There is artistic freedom in France. We are lucky to live in a country with such freedom.

Mr. Jolly does not look like a “director” of art, does it?

Tony Estanguet said, “The idea was to provoke a real reflective moment. We wanted to send a strong signal. We had to take into account the international community”.

There is a boycott of the games. A Mississippi-based tech firm pulled its advertising after the opening ceremonies.

Monsieur Jolly and the organizers of the Paris Games do not seem to be concerned. No matter how little the boycott by advertisers or viewers may have affected the trap, it has worked. There is nothing we can do about it.
