Death Toll Rises to 12 in Hezbollah Missile Strike on Golan Heights, Sparking Fears of Wider War

Hezbollah, a terrorist group in Lebanon backed by Iran, launched a rocket on a soccer pitch in the Golan Heights controlled by Israel on Saturday. At least 12 people were killed, mostly children.

Officials in Israel and the United States are worried that this horrific attack could spark a war across the Middle East.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the deadly attack and said that “Hezbollah has crossed all redlines” and the Jewish State is now “facing a full-out war” against the Lebanese terrors.

Katz added that Hezbollah would pay a greater price for its actions.

American officials are closely watching as Israelis consider their response.

According to a report, the Biden administration is concerned that Hezbollah’s rocket attack Saturday on Golan Heights which killed 12 people and injured dozens more could “trigger” a full-scale conflict between Israel and Iran-backed terror groups.

Axios reports that US officials worry that if there is no ceasefire between Israel’s government and Hamas terrorists in Gaza, then a war will be more likely between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah, which would fuel the crisis in the region and drag the United States further into it.

One American official told the outlet that “what happened today could have been the trigger” they had feared and avoided for 10 months.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, released a video after his D.C. visit with lame-duck President Joe Biden, and unsupportive Vice President Kamala Harris. He said in the video, according to a translation: “I can tell you that Israel will not ignore this issue in silence.”

Donald Trump has also made a statement.

Trump said, “This is so grave,” as he learned about the attack just before he went on stage to speak at a Nashville event. “They must respect our country.” We would never have allowed this to happen.
