Feds Seize Eric Adams’ Phone Following Shocking Indictment of NYC Mayor

FBI agents raided New York City’s mayor’s mansion in the early hours of Thursday morning, after hearing that Mayor Eric Adams was indicted by the federal grand jury.

Adams responded with a video in which he said that any charges brought against him were “entirely false and based on lies” and implied that he was a target of retaliation for his criticisms of the Biden Administration’s disastrous border policy.

He said, “The federal government didn’t do anything as its flawed immigration policies overwhelmed our shelter system without relief.” “I put New Yorkers before parties and politics.”

Sources say agents seized Adams’ phone during the morning operation. However, it is not clear if Adams was present at Gracie Mansion.

Alex Spiro, his lawyer, said that they did not arrest Adams.

He told The Associated Press, “Federal Agents appeared this morning at Gracie Mansion to create a spectacle and steal Mayor Adams’ phone again.” “They sent a dozen agents when we would have gladly turned in the phone.”

David Gelman is a New Jersey defense attorney who acts as a legal surrogate on behalf of the Trump campaign. He said that the feds likely served a warrant for data to be seized from the devices of the mayor.

He also questioned Adams’s case.

“The question that arises is: Is it political in nature?” He said. “It’s possible. Over the past 3.5 years, DOJ has proven that they have weaponized themselves.”

Adams has slammed the federal government for what he called a campaign of pressure designed to make him appear guilty and to undermine his credibility.

He said, “Just last week, they searched our new police commissioner’s home looking for documents from 20 years ago. This was just a week after he had joined my administration. Enough. I will fight against these injustices using all my strength and spirit.”

He maintained that he was innocent and argued in opposition to calls for his resignation.

“Now, if I am charged, some may say that I should resign, because I cannot manage the city and fight the case,” he said. “I understand why New Yorkers might be worried that I can’t do my job if I am facing charges. Since I spoke out on behalf of all of you, and the investigation began, I have faced these lies, yet, the city continues to improve. Make no mistake about it, you chose me to be the leader of this city and I will lead it.”

The details of the indictment are expected to be released later on Thursday morning.

Gelman stated that “we have no idea what the charges are or the accusations, but Adams and his team were well aware of the impending indictment.” “Nobody can tell if they’ve cooperated, but the Feds don’t miss if a target is in their sights.”

In recent weeks, federal agents conducted raids on Adams’ inner circle, which included the new commissioner of police, the one he replaced, and other top aides from the mayor’s campaign and office.

According to reports, the FBI is investigating whether Adams’ mayoral campaign for 2021 conspired with other entities and the Turkish government to raise money. Some New York officials were also investigated over possible investigations into contacts with China.
