Fani Willis Removed from Leading Donald Trump Prosecution in Major Legal Twist

Fulton County DA Fani Willis was officially disqualified in the case against Donald Trump. This is a huge blow for the prosecution. A court of appeals ruled Thursday morning that the conflicts of interest she had were too severe for her to continue in the case.

This comes after years of a fight over Willis’ affair, which she had with Nathan Wade. She hired Wade to be a part of her prosecutorial team. Questions about the amount of taxpayer money that Wade was paid, and their improper relationship, contaminated the process. The Trump team sought to disqualify Willis.

Willis, as well as the prosecution of Trump and his various associates, have suffered a major defeat. A lower court previously allowed Willis to remain on the case and only forced Wade’s ouster. The Fulton County DA is no longer involved in the case, so the strategy will need to be reevaluated, including whether or not to continue with these prosecutions.

Willis told the lower court her relationship with Wade had ended, but he was on the roadside when the daughter of the DA was arrested in September. This brought into question whether or not she was telling the truth and lied while under oath. Willis’s use of government and campaign money has been questioned over the years. One whistleblower revealed possible criminal behavior.

The Trump team will be pleased with this news. It’s not only a huge legal victory, but also a PR triumph. This provides proof for all they have said about Willis’s corruption. This could be a major factor in the prosecution being scuttled.
