DHS Chief Noem Teams Up with Feds for NYC Immigration Raids

Kristi Noem, the newly sworn-in Department of Homeland Security secretary, joined federal officers to conduct immigration enforcement raids early on Tuesday morning in New York City. She said that one of them apprehended an illegal migrant facing multiple charges including kidnapping.

Noem, confirmed by the Senate Saturday, went out to see criminal and civil operations by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Justice Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as DHS, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Noem wrote in a message to X, “Arresting criminal aliens in NYC this morning – Thank you to the brave police officers involved.”

One illegal connected to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua that took over an apartment building in Aurora, Colorado, was arrested in the Bronx early Tuesday, ABC News reported.

“Enforcement Operation in NYC. Thanks to @ICE, a criminal alien accused of kidnapping and assault as well as burglary is now in police custody”. Noem stated in a separate posting that “Dirtbags such as this will continue to disappear from our streets”.

Gothamist reported that Noem was involved in at least two raids on Tuesday.

Noem became Homeland Security Secretary on Saturday after being confirmed by the Senate 59-34. Noem and border czar Tom Homan are the driving forces behind Donald Trump’s promise to remove the millions of illegal immigrants who were allowed into the country during the Biden administration.

Noem stated in another post, “We are doing it right – we’re doing what President @realDonaldTrump had promised to the American people, namely making our streets safe.”
