According to Adams’s assistant, New York City Mayor Eric Adams will meet President-elect Trump on Friday in Florida just days before Trump’s inauguration.
In a post published on X, Adams’s spokesperson Fabien Levi said that Mayor Adams would meet with President-elect Trump tomorrow to discuss New Yorkers’ priorities. “The mayor is looking forward to a productive discussion with the incoming President on how we can advance our city and nation.”
Adams met Tom Homan, the incoming “border czar” of Trump. Adams stated at a press briefing that the two shared a common goal to prevent “dangerous people from committing repeated violent acts in our cities throughout America.”
Adams highlighted after the hour-long discussion that New York City would protect the rights of immigrants who “are hard-working and giving back to the City in a genuine way.”
Levy stated, “Mayor Adams made it clear that he is willing to work with President Trump and the incoming administration for New Yorkers, and that partnership with the federal government will be critical to New York City’s success.”
Adams was charged with federal fraud and bribery in September of last year. He has denied all wrongdoings and pleaded guilty. He will be tried in April.
In mid-December when asked about federal charges, Trump responded that he might consider pardoning Adams. He said he believes “he was pretty unfairly treated.”
Trump met with a second Democrat in the last few days at Mar-a-Lago. Last weekend, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and the President-elect met in Mar-a-Lago. Trump called the meeting “fascinating” and described Fetterman as a “commonsense individual.”
Trump stated, “He is neither liberal nor conservative. He is just a person with common sense, which I find beautiful.”
