Unforgettable Encounters: Obama, Trump, Pence, Jill, and Kamala Unite at Carter’s Funeral?

What happens when you are faced with a situation in which a group of people who don’t get along have to show up together at a funeral?

 

All the former presidents and vice-presidents of America had to answer that question when they gathered on Thursday for Jimmy Carter’s funeral at Washington, D.C.

 

You had to wonder what the minds of those involved were thinking.

 

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister, was sitting in his chair. First, President Donald Trump walked past him. Trudeau can be seen giving Trump a side-eye.

 

 

Trump also had to shake the hands of former Vice Presidents Al Gore, and Mike Pence. Gore stood up and extended his hand. I believe that was probably easier than the handshake with Pence. I don’t believe either of them were into it at all, but they did it. Barack Obama, the Bushes, and Gore all walked right past the Trumps and didn’t acknowledge them. Then, Barack went to shake hands with Gore and Pence. The Clintons also ignored Trump when they arrived.

 

 

Translation? Again, Trump adheres to those norms, while Obama, Clinton, and the Bushes do not. Where’s Michelle? George W. is getting older. Melania didn’t look happy.

 

Where is Michelle? “Scheduling conflict,” i.e. She’s in Hawaii on a long vacation. Isn’t she permanently on vacation now?

 

 

What? She can’t fly into the funeral even when everyone else is present? That’s Michelle Obama. Melania doesn’t like the media or the hype but she is there because it’s her job.

 

There was a lot of conversation going on between Obama and Trump. This perhaps was the most interesting moment. What did Trump just tell Obama? It looks like a knee-slapper.

 

Obama couldn’t stop himself. I bet it was Joe Biden. Trump is a funny man. Now you have the image of Obama laughing alongside “Hitler,” which shatters that narrative once again.

 

Kamala Harris, Doug Emhoff, and Joe and Jill had to be seated next to each other when they arrived. CNN understood that this was not going over well. This was a cold reception.

 

 

“Didn’t seem like a typically warm greeting,” Jake Tapper opined. Yes, that’s putting it lightly. “Could they hate each other anymore?” was the look.

 

 

There was also the “family” photo. Joe Biden, with his mouth open, looks like he’s not in it.

 

 

Take a look at the distance between Jill and Kamala, it says it all.

 

We can’t end without asking, “Was Joe Biden asleep?” Under the circumstances, I believe he may be thinking or praying. Everyone here is in bad condition, and Hillary must be angry that Trump will be president again and he is just a few chairs away.
