Trump Administration Halts Media Subscriptions Amid Politico Payment Controversy

The Trump administration, in response to the recent revelations that $34,000,000 was diverted from the taxpayers’ pockets into the coffers of left-wing media outlet Politico by the General Services Administration (GSA), has ordered them to cancel all media contracts they currently pay for. The list includes the likes of Politico, whose “Pro” version has been under scrutiny as well as Bloomberg and BBC.

Axios is another far-left outlet that obtained a copy of a memo from an unnamed Trump Administration official, directing the GSA to do two things.

All contracts with Politico, BBC, E&E (Politico sub), and Bloomberg are to be canceled

Pull all media contracts for just GSA – cancel every single media contract today for just GSA only.

It was brought to our attention for the first time on Wednesday morning after the Elon Musk-led DOGE and his scrappy group of government slashers, as well as a web sleuth, sniffed out the ridiculous government contract, which saw Politico receive millions of dollars in taxpayer money via USAID so that government employees could read its swill.

Politico never revealed these payments, even though they wrote articles about USAID and posed as impartial arbiters. This is one of the largest scandals in press history. The United States government funneled money to a liberal news outlet that has done the bidding for the Democratic Party repeatedly. You may recall, for example, that Politico was the news site that laundered an infamous letter by “51 intelligence officials”, claiming the Hunter Biden laptop contained Russian disinformation.

Politico insiders and apologists, who somehow missed the Trump-size paradigm shift in the United States and have been unable to catch up with it, are left sniffing at how Politico Pro is subscribed to by everyone in DC. It’s no big deal. You don’t know how DC works.

It was then, and it is now. The White House didn’t take long to weigh in. White House Press Secretary KarolineLeavitt stated:

“The more than $8 million in taxpayer money that has been used to subsidize subscriptions to @politico will no longer happen. The @DOGEteam has already begun to cancel those payments.”

Axios reported that a White House official had warned all left-leaning media outlets, saying “the eye of Sauron was on more than Politico.” It’s the entire media.

The editors of Politico sent out an email Thursday to their subscribers to try to explain the scandal in this way.

Government agencies that subscribe do so through standard public procurement processes — just like any other tool they buy to work smarter and be more efficient. This is not funding. It is a transaction — just as the government buys research, equipment, software, and industry reports.

Politico had some problems paying their employees earlier this week.
