Liz Cheney Fundraises Off Trump’s Contentious Oval Office Clash with Ukraine’s Zelenskyy

Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) is raising money off the explosive Oval Office Meeting last Friday that has left Europe and U.S. Allies shaken.

Cheney’s group Our Great Task sent an email to donors in which it suggested that Elon Musk, the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency, and Vice President JD Vance were all “tools of Kremlin”.

Too many Washington leaders are afraid of speaking the truth and afraid to defend the institutions and values that protect our Republic. Donald Trump now tries to align America with Putin as he intensifies his violent assault against Ukraine,” read the message.

Here’s the truth: Putin invaded Ukraine. NATO has been the most successful alliance ever. The American leadership, since 1945, has provided freedom and security to millions around the globe. We defeated the Soviet Union with our allies. It was an evil empire that had to construct gulags, walls, and other barriers to contain its people.

She accused Trump of using “appeasement tactics” with Russia’s powerful president, Vladimir Putin.

Elon Musk, JD Vance, and Donald Trump have all made it clear what they stand for. Her email went on to say that only naive idiots or tools of the Kremlin would abandon NATO and side with Russia in response to Putin’s violent aggression, demanding Ukraine submit.

We all have an important duty to protect democracy and to stand up for the Constitution, the American rule of law, American liberty, and American freedom.

The appeal ended, “Please join with me today – donate now to elect leaders who are courageous and honorable, showing that those who cherish freedom have a greater determination than those who wish to destroy it.”

After a heated meeting in which he traded verbal barbs with U.S. officials and dozens of reporters, Trump’s senior foreign policy officials kicked him out of the White House on Friday.

The deal was expected to give access to the profits of Kyiv’s rare-earth mineral deposits.

The meeting instead devolved to Zelenskyy, Vance, and Trump talking over one another, Trump accusing Zelenskyy of playing with World War III.

Trump officials had criticized the vagueness of the agreement, but the Ukrainian leader demanded more security assurances.

Howard Lutnick, Commerce secretary at the time, said of Zelenskyys’s requests on Sunday Morning Futures: “Zelenskyy’s demands were absurd and unreasonable.”

The sit-down, which took place on Monday afternoon but was not been resolved publicly yet, has splintered the Republican group that supports continued assistance to Ukraine.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) compared Trump to Vance, who was a supporter of Soviet Appeasement in the 20th Century, and claimed that the U.S. is now on the “wrong side” when it comes to the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

Some, such as Reps. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) lamented the fact that Russia won the war but didn’t blame Trump.

The R-S.C. Senator Lindsey Graham – a Trump supporter and ally who has praised Trump’s handling of the crisis – called for Zelenskyy, the current leader, to step down.
