Top Blue State Offers Jobs to Federal Workers Fired Over DOGE Controversy

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has launched a campaign this weekend in Washington, D.C., as well as New York City, offering to hire federal employees who have been fired by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In one ad that ran at the Moynihan and Union Stations in New York City and Washington D.C., the Statue of Liberty was depicted, and it read, “DOGE says you are fired? You’re Hired! New York Wants You!”

This ad contains a hyperlink to the website of the New York State Government, where you can find nearly 2000 different jobs in state government.

Hochul, who met with New Yorkers affected by federal budget cuts on Sunday, held a Monday press conference in which Musk and his “clueless team of career-killing killers” were criticized.

She claimed that the DOGE fired workers found the experience “degrading and dehumanizing”. She also accused Trump and Musk of not caring about the American people and their services.

She said, “They call themselves ‘America First. Give me a break. They don’t know anything about government functions. They don’t understand who the government serves and don’t give a damn about all of those public servants that keep everything running.”

It seems that none of the above matters to Donald Trump or Elon Musk. It’s all just for them to use as fodder in this second-rate, cheap reality show. “‘You’re terminated,’ they enjoy saying it,” she said.

Hochul addressed former federal employees directly and said, “The Washington regime may not recognise your talents, but New York State will. We don’t vilify public servants. You are valued. We value your contributions and welcome you as a member of the New York Family.”

She continued, “In New York, we know that it is not demagogues or technocrats making America great. It’s people like Luke, all of the people I met, and many who have come before, who devote their lives to helping others.”

Hochul stated that New York State has over 7,000 positions in the public sector, which include positions for attorneys, engineers, health care workers, educators, and more. She stated that the campaign was part of a “continuing effort” to rebuild New York’s state workforce, which had been “decimated,” particularly after COVID-19.

Hochul stressed the importance of states in resisting DOGE’s efforts by Trump’s new administration.

She said, “It begins in court. We are prepared to sue to stop any action, especially this first round of layoffs, because proper notification was not done. The employees did not follow the rules. They did not obey a single law. They think that they’re kings and can do anything they please.”

She continued, “So in the interim, states must step up. This is what we could do. Let’s not only take care of them, but we’ll also see them at court. Let’s make sure they don’t worry about the health of their children or whether their family will receive medical care.”

White House spokeswoman Harrison Fields responded, “No amount Democrat obstruction can stop President Trump from delivering the promises he has made to the American People.”

Fields said, “Radical, out-of-touch Democrats should first clean up the mess in their home states before attempting to spread their failed policies throughout the United States.”
