Sen. Banks Claps Back at Tillis Over Medicaid Cuts in Trump-Backed Bill

There’s a whole lot of noise in the drive-by media about President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, and most of it is just flat-out wrong. Take our friends over at Politico, for example. They’re all in a tizzy over Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., who’s claiming that Trump’s bill will gut funding for North Carolina’s hospitals and rural communities.

Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., comes out swinging on ‘Fox News Sunday,’ defending our president’s bill with the cold, hard facts. He reminds us all that Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Trump himself have created a $15 billion stabilization fund specifically for rural hospitals. That’s right, they’ve carved out BILLIONS just to make sure these communities don’t lose a dime.

This bill isn’t just about keeping hospitals afloat; it’s about reforming Medicaid. It’s about making sure people WORK for their benefits and keeping illegals off the rolls. It’s about cutting the waste, fraud, and abuse that’s been draining this program dry for years.

Of course, we’ve got the usual naysayers. The Congressional Budget Office is wringing its hands over the predicted 16 million Americans who might be uninsured by 2034. But, if we don’t make these changes NOW, how many MORE millions will be left without coverage when Medicaid finally goes bankrupt?

People like Allison Orris from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, who’s convinced this bill is ‘deeply harmful.’ Well, Allison, let me break this down in plain English. If we don’t deal with the problems in Medicaid, if we don’t stop the waste, fraud, and abuse, if we don’t make people work for their benefits, then the only thing that’s ‘deeply harmful’ is going to be the DISASTER we’re leaving for the next generation.”

This isn’t about cutting funding or leaving people uninsured. It’s about making necessary changes to a system that’s been rigged against the American taxpayer for far too long.
