House Speaker Mike Johnson Marks Biden Exit Anniversary With Scathing, Celebratory Video

Today marks one year since former President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana, a Republican, has released a video focusing on allegations of Democrats concealing the then-president’s possible cognitive decline.

Biden stunned his senior staff and the public on July 21 of last year, announcing his withdrawal from the race following an arguably incoherent debate performance against Donald Trump. This development follows earlier reports that raised questions about Biden’s mental capacities.

“One year ago today, President Biden’s debate performance ended his reelection campaign and exposed what some claim to be the largest political cover-up in U.S. history,” Johnson said in a release that included a link to the video. “As House Republicans investigate the alleged scandal, the American people should bear in mind the lengths Democrats and the media allegedly went to hide the potential decline of the then-leader of the free world.”

The House Oversight Committee has initiated hearings into concerns that Biden’s cognitive abilities may have waned during his time in office. The evidence suggests that four top aides to Biden are set to testify before the committee over the coming months, according to reports from The Hill.

Just this Wednesday, we learned that a former senior aide to Jill Biden became the second person to invoke the Fifth Amendment, refusing to answer questions from House Republicans investigating the former president’s mental state and use of the autopen during his tenure.

This raises important questions about the transparency of our democratic institutions, the significance of which should not be overlooked.
