President Donald Trump has canceled Secret Service protection for former vice president and 2024 Democrat rival Kamala Harris, a White House source confirmed on Friday morning.
The cessation of Harris’ security detail comes in the wake of prior reports that President Joe Biden had extended her protection for 18 months, a significant increase from the customary six months granted to a vice president post-tenure, as confirmed by a senior White House official.
Harris, despite her loss in the 2024 presidential election to Trump, has not dismissed the possibility of another presidential run in 2028. She has stated her gratitude to the Secret Service for their unwavering commitment to her safety during her time in office.
A letter received by Harris, dated this past Thursday, informs her that the additional security will cease on the first of September. This development follows earlier reports that Trump has also ended federal security protection for other individuals, including those who have publicly criticized him, such as former national security adviser John Bolton, and President Biden’s children, Hunter and Ashley Biden.

Reports indicate that Harris, in the aftermath of these changes, is set to embark on a promotional tour for her memoir, titled ‘107 Days’.
The end of security detail for Kamala Harris raises important questions about the treatment of former government officials and the implications for their personal safety.
