Something interesting happened behind closed doors on Thursday, and the American people deserve to see every second of it. Rep. Nancy Mace claims that Hillary Clinton became unhinged during her deposition before the House Oversight Committee, particularly when confronted with photographs of her husband alongside Jeffrey Epstein. According to Mace, the former Secretary of State wasn’t just defensive. She was screaming.
Now, Democrats are doing what they do best when the facts don’t suit them. They’re claiming Mace is lying, that she’s exaggerating, that the whole thing is a Republican hit job. Rep. Robert Garcia rushed to the cameras faster than you can say damage control, insisting the characterization was beyond misrepresentation. He’s demanding the video be released immediately, which is curious behavior for someone supposedly confident in Clinton’s composure.
Here’s the thing about truth. It doesn’t need spin doctors. If Hillary Clinton was calm, collected, and perfectly reasonable during her testimony, then releasing the full, unedited video should be the easiest decision in the world. The Republicans say they’re going to release it anyway. So we’ll all get to see who’s telling the truth soon enough.
Mace doubled down on her account Friday morning, and you’ve got to respect that kind of conviction. She said Clinton was combative and unhinged every single time Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell came up in questioning. Think about that for a moment. We’re talking about a woman who’s been through countless congressional hearings, who sat through eleven hours of Benghazi testimony without breaking a sweat. Yet according to Mace, mentioning Epstein’s name was enough to set her off.
The American people have been patient about the Epstein affair for years now. We’ve watched powerful people dodge accountability while the media runs interference. We’ve seen photographs, flight logs, and witness testimony that paint a disturbing picture of who was close to one of the most notorious criminals in modern American history. And every time someone asks legitimate questions, we’re told we’re conspiracy theorists or partisan hacks.
But this isn’t about conspiracy theories. This is about transparency and accountability, two concepts that seem to evaporate whenever the Clinton name appears. If Hillary Clinton barely knew Epstein and Maxwell, as she claims, then why the alleged outburst? Why the screaming? Innocent people don’t typically lose their composure when asked about someone they barely knew.
The contrast between the two accounts couldn’t be starker. Mace describes a woman who became visibly agitated and combative. Garcia paints a picture of professional decorum. One of them is lying, or at the very least, one of them has a severely distorted view of what constitutes normal behavior under questioning.
What we’re witnessing is a fundamental breakdown in public trust. Half the country will believe Mace. The other half will believe Garcia. And both sides will dig in harder, convinced the other is participating in some grand deception. This is what happens when institutions fail us repeatedly, when powerful people get special treatment, when the rules apply differently depending on your last name.
Release the video. Let Americans see it with their own eyes. Let us judge Hillary Clinton’s demeanor for ourselves. If she was calm and professional, Republicans will look foolish. If she was unhinged and screaming, Democrats will have some explaining to do. Either way, sunshine remains the best disinfectant, and this particular wound has been festering in darkness for far too long.
