When American Taxpayers Fund What We’ve Banned at Home

Here’s something that should make your blood boil. While you were working overtime to pay your taxes, the Biden administration was shipping millions of your dollars overseas to fund transgender clinics in India, a transgender opera in Colombia, and get this, $15 million worth of condoms for the Taliban. Yes, you read that right. The Taliban.

President Trump just put an end to this madness, and the outrage from the left tells you everything you need to know about how corrupt this system had become.

The expanded Mexico City Policy, now called Promoting Human Flourishing in Foreign Assistance, does something radical by today’s standards. It acknowledges biological reality. It says American taxpayer dollars won’t fund organizations that promote gender ideology abroad. Simple as that.

The policy states plainly that “a person’s body (including its organs, organ systems, and processes natural to human development like puberty) either healthy or unhealthy based on whether they are operating according to their biological functions.” This isn’t controversial. It’s basic biology. The kind of stuff we all learned in middle school before activists decided science was negotiable.

The Scale of the Problem

We’re talking about more than $30 billion in foreign aid related to global health. That’s not pocket change. Under Biden, the State Department actually directed NGOs to report all the ways they fund and support “advancing the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons around the world.” They called it a foreign policy priority. More than $3 million went to 116 LGBTQI+ organizations across 73 countries, with over $7 million supporting activities at USAID outposts.

Think about that for a second. We’ve got crumbling infrastructure at home, veterans sleeping on streets, and families struggling to afford groceries. But the previous administration made it a priority to export gender ideology to countries that, frankly, have bigger problems to worry about.

The Real Work Gets Hijacked

Here’s what really grinds my gears about this whole situation. Non-governmental organizations do important work. Real work. Disaster relief. Healthcare in impoverished areas. Clean water projects. Stuff that actually saves lives.

But ideologues hijacked these organizations and turned them into activist groups promoting the erasure of biological sex. They wrapped their ideology in humanitarian language and nobody questioned it because, well, who wants to be called a bigot for asking where the money goes?

President Trump’s policy cuts through that nonsense. NGOs must now affirm the reality of two distinct biological sexes and organize single-sex spaces where appropriate. You want American funding? You acknowledge American values and biological truth.

The Predictable Meltdown

Of course, the gender ideologues are losing their minds. Keifer Buckingham from the Council for Global Equality claims this is “about weaponizing U.S. foreign assistance to promote an ideological agenda.”

The irony would be funny if it wasn’t so infuriating. Standing up for biological truth isn’t an ideological agenda. It’s reality. What’s ideological is insisting that men can become women through sheer force of will and government funding.

These activists moved so fast with their political goals that they forgot something important. Fifteen years ago, even the most liberal Democrats would have called this lunacy. Barack Obama campaigned against gay marriage in 2008. Now we’re supposed to pretend that opposing taxpayer-funded gender clinics in India makes you an extremist?

The American People Get It

According to America’s New Majority Project, 59 percent of Americans support making it illegal to use taxpayer dollars for so-called “gender-affirming care.” That’s not a fringe position. That’s a clear majority.

The American people understand something the foreign policy establishment forgot. We have limited resources and unlimited problems. Every dollar we spend promoting gender ideology in Colombia is a dollar we’re not spending on something that actually matters.

Putting America First Means Standing for Truth

This revision to foreign aid policy reflects what Trump’s presidency has always been about. Putting American interests first. That means not wasting our hard-earned international standing by exporting insanity.

For too long, we’ve let bureaucrats and activists use American taxpayer dollars to fund their pet projects abroad while calling it humanitarian assistance. We’ve let them hide behind the important work of NGOs while pushing an agenda that most Americans reject.

That ends now. The State Department under Secretary Rubio has torn down the facade. American foreign aid will support human flourishing based on biological reality, not gender ideology based on political fashion.

This isn’t complicated. It’s common sense dressed up in policy language. Your tax dollars shouldn’t fund overseas what we’re banning at home. They shouldn’t promote the erasure of women and biological sex in the name of progress. And they certainly shouldn’t go to transgender operas while Americans struggle to make ends meet.

The fact that this policy change is even necessary tells you how far off the rails things had gotten. The fact that it’s controversial tells you how much work we still have to do.
