Vice President Kamala Harris was embarrassed at an international press conference that she attended with the President of Poland in Warsaw. The vice president seemed unsure who she was supposed to answer first when a reporter asked a question, even though it was directed at her.
Harris was shocked when Duda answered her question first, despite being asked by a reporter questions about Ukrainian refugees.
She said “OK,” awkwardly, pausing to look at her notes, and then said it again.
She continued, “A friend in distress is a friend indeed,” and burst into laughter gesturing to Duda for her answer.
Harris was referring earlier to Duda’s quote at the press conference.
“A friend in need is a good friend,” he stated before she made her comment.
Duda did save Harris from an awkward moment but it was not clear why Harris faltered when Harris asked about the United States’ support for Ukrainian refugees.
Harris is in Europe to meet NATO Allies and to assure them that America is still committed to their defense, as the Russian war against Ukraine rages.
