Elon Musk Under Fire From Twitter Users For Limiting Posts That Can Be Read

Published on

Twitter CEO Elon musk drew ire from thousands of users when he announced that a temporary cap would be placed on the number posts that could be read per day.

Musk said that the social media platform was implementing “post-reading” limits to “address high levels of data scraping and system manipulation.”

On Saturday afternoon verified accounts were able to read up to 6,000 messages per day. Unverified accounts could only read 600 posts per day. The numbers were then updated to “10K”, 1K”, and 0.5K respectively.

Fox News’ Joey Jones said Musk “picked up a fight with America,” and called the move “a shakedown.”

It’s a ruse. Jones, on “The Big Weekend Show,” said that it was a ruse to convince people to sign up for Twitter Blue. He believed the billionaire announced the restrictions to encourage people to sign up to Twitter Blue.

Elon Musk said when he purchased Twitter that he would be the protector for free speech. “Well, looking at this, he is closer to Xi Jinping on free speech than James Madison,” he said. “He is completely controlling the speech.” He limits not only what can be seen, but also who can be interacted with and the amount of speech and conversation that can take place.

Mollie Hemingway: ‘It’s deeply alarming’ that the US is digging in Elon Musk over Twitter’s nefarious activity.
Arroyo said that the move “broke the hearts” and “was very bad” for Musk’s brand.

Musk made fun of users who complained, writing in his Twitter account: “You wake from a deep sleep, step away from your phone to see friends and family.” He also retweeted a parody Elon Musk account which said that the reason why users are limited to only reading one post per day is because “we are all Twitter addicted and need to get outside.”

Dr. Nicole Saphier, co-host of the show, argued that Musk could have been attempting to combat the mental illness pandemic through limiting the time users spend on social media.

She said: “If you take a look at the statistics, it’s clear that there are many people who are constantly on their devices. It is causing a lot mental health problems, as our young people don’t know how to communicate with real people.” “They are always on their devices.”
