Three people have died after a crash involving a charter bus in central Pennsylvania.
Around 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, heavy rain caused a crash along Interstate 81 about 10 miles north of Harrisburg.
The bus trip began in New York.
According to the crash report, the bus went off the road, hit an embankment, and rolled on its right side before hitting the rear of a vehicle that was stopped in the right lane.
According to the police report, three passengers died at the scene and other injuries ranged from minor to severe.
The authorities say that 45 to 50 passengers were aboard the bus at the time it flipped.
Megan Frazer, a Trooper in the California Highway Patrol said that this incident was a mass casualty. We had eight ambulances on hand, along with a lifeline (emergency response), because of the number of people involved and the injuries.
The owner and driver of the bus identities have not been revealed. Frazer stated on Monday morning that additional details about the accident might not be revealed until Tuesday evening.
