Former President Donald Trump is making a name for himself on the political stage again and it has caused the 2024 GOP presidential nomination polls to fall in his favor.
The Conservative Political Action Conference is the largest and most influential gathering of conservatives. Organizers put together a 20-question survey for the 1,525 CPAC attendees that asked about the 2024 presidential candidates and a few Trump-related questions. Besides Trump, key speakers included Florida Sen. Rich Scott, Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert, and Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee.
In the most recent presidential nomination poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Texas, 80% of the attendees voted that they strongly approved of the job Trump did in the White House, with another 10% “somewhat approving.” Trump captured 70% of the ballot votes in the poll, compared to the 55% support he received back in late February at the Orlando CPAC. The second contender, Florida Gov. Ron De Santis, received 21% support in the polls.
DeSantis easily topped the second 2024 ballot question without Trump, grabbing 68% of the support. He has gained popularity for his resistance to lockdowns and COVID-19-related restrictions amid the pandemic, as well as being a Trump ally. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo came in second at 5%, Donald Trump Jr. and Sen. Ted Cruz were both at 4%, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem came in at 3%. Former Vice President Mike Pence clocked in at 0%.
Trump spoke at the Dallas 3-day conference, which was titled “America Uncanceled 2021” and thanked voters for their incredible support. He talked about how they will secure the borders, stop left-wing cancel culture, and restore free speech and fair elections to make America great again.
Trump also blasted Democrats on crime, saying nothing ever happens to Antifa or Black Lives Matter rioters while people who are patriots, conservatives, or Republicans stay in jails for extended periods of time. He said they are “not going to take it anymore” and will be ready to fight back against the rising crime rates in America.
He also criticized the fake news tech and media companies for conspiring to stifle him while ignoring any negative stories about Biden. Trump mentioned the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and said at least 10% of Joe Biden’s voters would’ve switched their vote if they’d known about it. The New York Post story had been heavily suppressed by Big Tech and mainstream media outlets.
“Look at all these stories that came up and they were wiped out. Anything negative for Biden or the radical left Democrats they just suppress. The most horrendous example, the oldest newspaper in American and one of my favorites, it’s a great one. The New York Post wrote one of the biggest scandals ever to emerge in a presidential election, providing extraordinary, detailed evidence of the corruption of Joe Biden and, where’s Hunter?” Trump asked.
During the event, Trump stressed the importance of the 2022 midterm elections and slammed the migrant crisis at the US Border.
Trump has not ruled out another run for the White House in 2021 but has refused to share whether or not he plans to run again. Most people say they would vote for a Trump/DeSantis ticket since DeSantis gives a broader view of the government at the Federal level. Politicians can quickly backpedal on their promises through polls and negotiations. Trump only cares about common-sense productivity. That’s why he’s so popular.
