President Joe Biden gave a speech to American troops stationed at Poland. It was a preview of what they would find when they arrive in Ukraine.
Biden stated, “You’re going see, when you’re there, some of you have already been there,” and that you’ll see young women standing in front a damn tank saying, ‘I don’t leave, I’m holding on to my ground.’ “They’re incredible.”
The president spoke to a small number of soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Rzeszow, Poland.
Biden spoke repeatedly about Ukraine to troops, telling them that they were there for the Ukrainian people. He has also repeatedly promised to not send American troops into the country.
He stated, “What’s at risk? Not just that we’re trying to help the Ukrainian people keep the massacre from continuing,” “It’s not enough to ask what your grandkids and kids will look like when they have their freedom.”
Biden stated to the American troops that they were fighting a generation against the forces autocrats.
“What you are engaged in is more than just whether you can ease the suffering of the peoples of Ukraine. He said that we are in a new phase. His generation is at an inflection point.
He said, “You are in the middle of a fight among democracies und oligarchs.”
The president talked about his many years of experience in foreign policy travel, both as a senator and as Vice President under former President Barack Obama.
He said, “The Ukrainian people have lots of backbone, they’re very brave and I’m sure that you’re watching it.” “And that’s not just for the military. We’ve been training since the time Russia invaded the southeast Ukraine. But it also applies to the average citizen.”
He was reminded of Madeleine Albright, former Secretary to State, who said that the United States was an essential nation. He also stated that they serve as the “organizing principle for future generations around the globe.
He said that fundamental change is taking place and the world isn’t going be the same. However, we won’t be the same 10-15 year from now in terms our organizational structures.” This was while discussing whether democracy or autocracy would win.
Biden stated that he would not hesitate to order 12,000 more troops to NATO’s Eastern flank, noting that there were 100,000 American forces present in Europe to boost their strength.
He thanked the troops repeatedly and noted that their actions were “consequential” to the future of democracy.
It’s more than what you do to help the Ukrainian people. He said that it’s more than what you do to help Europe regain its confidence.
