Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated Monday that despite Trevor Noah’s repeated statements at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night, in which he claimed DeSantis was there, this was a lie and he didn’t have any interest in the event.
During his performance Noah made a few jokes about DeSantis’s expense, saying “Ron DeSantis” and then looking at the audience as though he was directing his attention to the governor.
“I wouldn’t go to that. DeSantis stated that he had no interest in such a thing when asked about Noah’s comments at a Monday news conference. “I didn’t watch it, I don’t care what they do but for them advertising me when that invitation was declined by my office, that is a lie.”

DeSantis then went on to criticize the White House Correspondents Association, (WHCA), for “saying how significant they are, that somehow they are these paragons, of truth, but there they lie about something that can be readily verified.”
Noah began his jokes about DeSantis with one about his rumored presidential ambitions.
Ron DeSantis, one of my favorite people, is here. Noah pointed in the direction of the governor while Noah said, “Oh man, I’m surprised that he found time.” “You know, he’s been so busy trying outmaneuver Trump 2024. Ron, I see you. You are welcome, player.
Noah pointed again at the same spot in crowd after delivering the punchline.
Noah continued a joke about DeSantis and pointed again in the same direction, saying, “I see, Ron.”
Noah made another joke, in which he compared DeSantis with former President Donald Trump. He then turned his back and said, “You are smarter than him. You’re slicker that him. You can walk down ramps.”
Noah continued his joke about DeSantis and pointed again in the same direction, saying, “My man!”
DeSantis blasted WHCA for supporting this.
