Woman Sues After Her Microwavable Macaroni Takes More Than Three and a Half Minutes to Cook

Are you ever vilified by a microwavable morsel of food? Florida woman has felt this way, and she refuses to melt over it.

Velveeta Shells & Cheese is a delicious delight for those who are authentically American and have a good taste for cheese. The preparation time is minimal and it’s delightful. Amanda Ramirez, Hialeah’s microwaving master, recently discovered something she didn’t like about the entree. It was not eligible for consumption within 180 seconds, despite its promise on the package.

The creamy cup said, “Ready in 3 and 1/2 Minutes.”

Amanda demands answers, the kind that only money can provide. She has decided to be a jerk and file a class-action lawsuit.

Ramirez filed the suit against the US District Court for Florida’s Southern District on November 18. Ramirez, the plaintiff, has claimed that the company “indulged in false advertisement and in propagating misleading info via its claim that the Mac and Cheese can be prepared in three and a half minutes”.

According to the lawsuit, customers who see the “Ready in Three and a Half Minutes” stamp on product packaging will believe that it shows the time taken to prepare the product …”.

Amanda’s suit demonstrates the difficulty involved in making macaroni. The preparation process includes lifting a lid.

ClassAction.org:

The case states that the four steps include removing the lid and cheese sauce pouch from a cup, adding water to the cup fill line, stirring, then microwaving the mixture on high for three minutes, without draining. Finally, stir in the cheese sauce pouch contents. According to the filing, consumers believe that mac and cheese can be prepared in the time required.

MSN makes it clear that Amanda feels microwave’s guilt:

She further states that she would not have made the purchase had she known that the product’s preparation time was longer than 3.5 minutes. The Florida resident further noted that she would either ‘not have purchased the product at all or ‘paid less had she known the truth. Ramirez believes that she shelled out ‘more for the [box of eight 67-gram cups] than she would have paid’ if she had known the actual time it took to make the meal was longer than advertised.

Amanda appears to be a literal type of consumer. It’s possible that she didn’t purchase Minute Rice when she bought her Shells and Cheese. It takes several minutes to open Minute Rice packages.

The plaintiff seeks damages of $5,000,000

If she wins, the money may allow her to spend more time. The lady who can’t afford macaroni for four minutes should relax.

Although it’s bold, it’s not as bold and courageous as suing. It takes longer time than advertised to cook which could equally be considered a lie.

It doesn’t matter what the details are, it seems an absolute fact that food-related news is always an interesting subject. Honestly, who has time to worry about if it takes a little longer to cook macaroni & cheese in the microwave? People will do anything these days for money.
