Prince Andrew Booed On Way To Coronation Of King Charles

The crowds in London booed Prince Andrew as he drove down the Mall, in front of Buckingham Palace, on his way to the Coronation ceremony of King Charles III.

The Duke of York wasn’t as warmly welcomed by thousands of Royalists in central London. The Telegraph reported that the Prince, who is controversial, was booed as he drove to Westminster Abbey to attend the Coronation of King Charles.

Prince Andrew is also no longer working in the Royal Family. This follows years of controversy surrounding his links to Jefferey Epstein, a notorious sex-trafficker. In a 2019 Newsnight interview, which will be adapted as a Netflix drama featuring Gillian Anderson, the prince did not express regret for his friendship with the deceased paedophile.

The Queen removed the Duke from his role as a working Royal before her death, following the financial agreement that was made between Andrew and Virginia Giuffre who claimed to be the alleged Jeffery-Epstein victim. Virginia Giuffre had claimed the prince raped them on three separate occasions in 2001 at the age of 17 years.

The Duke, who reportedly agreed to pay Giuffre around PS12 million (£8.4 million), did not admit guilt. Prince Andrew denied the accusations and suggested Giuffre had “false memory”. In 2021, the Metropolitan Police in London also dropped its investigation into Prince Andrew.

As a result of his removal from the Royal Court, Prince Andrew — along with Prince Harry — was not present in the group of Royals who joined King Charles to watch the Armed Forces flyover and to wave at the crowds assembled outside Buckingham Palace.
