Conor McGregor, the UFC star, was accused of raping an unidentified woman in the Kaseya Center bathroom in Miami last week after the Heat defeated the Denver Nuggets.
McGregor was already under fire after punching the Heat mascot on the same day, which led the person wearing the costume to seek medical treatment. Ariel Mitchell, an attorney, reportedly wrote to McGregor, NBA, and Heat a few days later about the alleged assault.
Mitchell claimed in a letter obtained from TMZ Sports that NBA and Heat security separated the alleged victim and her friend, and “forced her” into a bathroom with McGregor’s security team.
According to the lawyer, “security refused [to let] her exit or allowed anyone else, even her friend, into the bathroom.” McGregor, according to the lawyer, allegedly emerged from one of the stalls and “pushed his tongue in her mouth and aggressively kissed” her.
“We are aware that the allegations have been made and we are currently conducting an investigation.” The Heat said that they would not comment further until the conclusion of the investigation.
Our request for comment from the NBA was not immediately answered.
According to TMZ Sports, McGregor also accused the woman of forcing her to have oral sex and “attempting to sodomize” her after pinning the against the wall. Mitchell claims that the woman elbowed McGregor, but was able to get away and left her purse. Mitchell said the woman had to beg for the purse to be returned.
McGregor’s representatives denied the allegations and called them “false.”
His representatives told the outlet that “Mr. McGregor won’t be intimidated.”
Mitchell claimed that the woman had reported the alleged assault. Mitchell, according to reports, is seeking “settlements” with the NBA Heat and McGregor instead of suing.
