The Senate has received two articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, for his failure to secure the Southern Border.
The next step is a Senate trial. At the request of Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the Democrat-controlled body will either dismiss the charges quickly or stage a show trial. Senate jurors may be selected as early as Wednesday if the charges aren’t dismissed outright.
Mayorkas was the first Cabinet Secretary to be impeached for nearly 150 years. House Republicans impeached Mayorkas after their first attempt failed.
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shared the message on social media. She added that Mayorkas “is a dereliction of duty”.
I just delivered my Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas to the United States Senate.
Mayorkas is derelict of his duty and must be removed from office.

Under the Homeland Security Secretary and his boss President Biden, the situation at the border was a disaster. Estimates suggest that tens of millions of illegal aliens entered the United States under their “leadership.”
Mayorkas’ department has consistently maintained that the impeachment allegations are unfounded and that, despite appearances, he is secretly doing an excellent job.
House Republicans ignore the facts and continue to undermine the Constitution. They waste more time in the Senate on this sham of an impeachment.
The White House also responded:
In a memo referring to the Mayorkas impeachment proceedings White House counsel’s office spokesman Ian Sams stated that “this effort is an absolute waste of time, that constitutional and legal expert has declared to be ‘unconstitutional,’ and even Senate Republicans have expressed that they do not want to focus on this issue.”
The Republicans have a right to highlight the disastrous job that the secretary did, even if the impeachment doesn’t go very far in the Senate. It may not solve the problem of illegal immigration right away, but it will show the American public how serious the issue is. They can then use this information to vote in favor of a different course of action come October.
