Kamala Harris Has Failed Afghan Women & American Citizens As She Stays MIA (But Keeps Her Vietnam Trip)

Published on

Vice President Kamala Harris remains largely absent from the disastrous aftermath of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. She has tried to remain a large role in the White House as Biden’s leadership is questioned and even erase any daylight between her and Biden, but it’s clear that his latest move has her moving as far away as she possibly can from the mess. There is no accountability or personal responsibility when it comes to the Democrats. Things just get swept right under the rug. What happened to all of that “unity” they campaigned on?

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine joined Fox News “America Reporters,” where she told host Sandra Smith that VP Harris was likely trying to keep her reputation intact as Afghanistan falls to the Taliban. She suggested that the vice president could even ascend to the presidency “sooner or later” given the current circumstances and that Joe Biden’s withdrawal stinks of failure and defeat that she wants to be far away from.

“It’s quite a betrayal of the vice president not to be standing by the president’s side who’s now given two sorts of speeches, I guess you could call them, since Friday. And it is quite remarkable that she has decided not to show solidarity with the president — it tells you where the White House is. And she, I suppose, is thinking she will be stepping into the president’s shoes,” Devine said.

At the same time, VP Harris is scheduled to travel to Vietnam and talk about the Biden Administration’s commitment to a “free and open Indo-Pacific region,” with a focus on reinforcing regional security. She has continued on with her plans for the trip, even though some critics have called it a mistake in the face of other crises at hand. Harris’ deputy national security adviser Philip Gordon said that the trip displays their “comprehensive engagement” in East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

But Devine said the president and State Department don’t even know what’s happening in Kabul. They don’t even know how many Americans are trapped behind enemy lines after withdrawing troops in the dead of the night from Bagram Air Base and creating such a disaster. She said it’s hard to project strength when so many countries are capitalizing from our weakness due to the Biden Administration.

On the other hand, The Los Angeles Times says VP Harris has been “front and center” as Biden has overseen America’s retreat from Afghanistan. They said she has “touted” her role on Afghanistan policy and now she owns it too. They wrote that the “execution of the withdrawal” will be added to her resume, as she is Biden’s understudy. They even reminded readers that Harris boasted back in April during a CNN interview that she was the “last one in the room before Biden made his decision, and felt comfortable with the plan.”

Back in April, President Biden announced his decision to withdraw U.S troops. The Times pointed out that the Biden Administration didn’t seem to cite any concerns with the withdrawal. Biden even emphasized a few times that the “Taliban was not going to take over.” That was before photographed scenes of chaos and panic at Kabul’s airport after the Taliban takeover captured the attention of the world. People were reminded of Biden’s words, that the “Taliban would not take over,” as they saw Afghani people clinging on to airplanes and sprinting on the runway to flee from their own country.

“Neither Harris nor administration officials would say what, if any, questions, concerns, or reservations Harris raised about the withdrawal plans or the fate of thousands of Afghans who aided U.S. forces. It is also unknown whether she expressed any skepticism about intelligence assessments that a Taliban victory was more than a year away,” the Times wrote.

The Times previously praised Kamala Harris in a January project called “Covering Kamala Harris,” which was loaded with tons of complimentary content. But now they call Harris’s leadership “inappropriate and disappointing.” They’ve even abandoned an Instagram account they previously dedicated to her.

Where is Kamala Harris and why isn’t she defending the Afghan women and girls who are in grave danger from Taliban rule? A handful of career politicians cannot even successfully withdraw U.S citizens before their troops. And to think that former president Donald Trump, with no political experience, achieved a pretty good foreign policy deal in the Middle East. Democrats are doing the wrong things on purpose (and they know it).
