Trump and Pence Speak at NRA Convention Amid Media Blaming Gun Rights for Mass Shootings

Published on

The National Rifle Association held its annual convention this weekend in Indianapolis. This is the third time the event has been held in Indianapolis since 2014. In a sign that the political season is upon us, the NRA convention featured every politician mentioned as a possible presidential candidate.

Donald Trump already announced his candidacy. The other candidates are still waiting. Announcing an intention to run places restrictions on expenses and fundraising. Many candidates will wait until the last minute to announce their intentions.

This doesn’t stop other candidates from promoting their viability and electability. At the NRA convention, potential candidates will tell attendees they need to be elected in order to protect gun rights from Biden and Democrats that want them taken away from them – whether it is cold or not.

Trump is scheduled to speak on Friday afternoon. Although Indiana allows open carrying, the Secret Service does not like anyone with a gun near a former vice president or president. Attendees will be disarmed before entering the venue.

Associated Press:

Mike Pence will also speak, as he considers his own White House bid in 2024. It will be the first time the two will address the same campaign event since their estrangement following the insurrection on Jan. 6, 2020, at the U.S. Capitol.

After the news broke of the indictment against former President Trump, two GOP Trump critics — Asa Hutchinson and former Arkansas Governor John Bolton announced their campaigns for 2024. Chris Sununu, the governor of New Hampshire who may launch his own White House bid, will also be speaking.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was a former U.N. Video message sent by Nikki Haley, who began her 2024 campaign in February.

The media will be dominated by the Trump/Pence dueling speeches. In an untrue and disgusting manner, the media and Democrats continue to link mass shootings and the NRA.

“Our children were being hunted and the NRA’s business model was to help hunters,” said Democratic Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy.

This may sound like a good plan to those who want guns, but it’s a bad idea. Our children are not being “hunted”. NRA should have the same business model as the ACLU. They oppose taking away the gun rights of people with mental illnesses without any reason.

To say that they do is to deliberately misinterpret the facts and distort the context.

Senator Murphy prefers to use cheap applause to stop mass shootings. The first step would be to enforce laws already in place. Adding laws that no one will enforce is a bad policy.
