Rep Massie: I’ll Sue CDC Again If They Bring Back Travel Mask Mandate

Published on

Thomas Massie, R-KY, has led the fight against the COVID mandates of the Biden Administration. He also criticized the government’s heavy hand in imposing restrictions on the American public during the pandemic.

My colleague wrote about his pushback previously, which led to a lawsuit filed by Congress in March 2022 against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The suit was over the travel mask mandate of the administration, which required everyone to wear masks in federal buildings, airplanes, trains, and stations for all forms of public transportation.

Massie, along with 16 other Republican Congressmen, filed a suit in March 2022 to stop the mask mandate of the Biden Administration.

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not have the legal authority to force people traveling on commercial airlines to wear masks,” Massie said at the time. “Congress never passed a law requiring masks on commercial flights. This lawsuit targets the faceless bureaucrats who are behind the CDC’s unscientific regulation so that this illegal mask mandate can be brought to a permanent end.”

The mandate was revoked by U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle on April 19, 2022. It was later vacated when President Biden declared that the pandemic had ended.

Rep. Massie has now said he will refile Republicans’ lawsuit “immediately” if the CDC decides to reimpose masking in public transportation and federal buildings.

It comes as a result of the recent diagnosis of President Joe Biden’s wife Jill with COVID. Pres. Biden’s COVID test was negative. However, as we previously reported, his exposure to a person known to have tested positive for COVID-19 (Jill Biden) didn’t prevent him from violating the basic rules of social distancing, etc.
